Mind racing? Feeling overwhelmed?

At work, we’re told to plan, set goals, see the big picture, and always be one step ahead.
But here’s the truth: the present moment is the only place we have any real power. It’s where things actually happen, or don’t.
Thinking about the past or future is useful if it helps us act in the present positively.
But when we get stuck in loops, the “what ifs” of the future or the “why did I do that?” of the past we’re no longer helping ourselves, we’re trapped in our mind’s built-in threat and warning system.
The only way to stop it is to return to the place where we have control.
The Present.
Here’s a technique to get you there right right now. Try it when you feel overwhelmed.
Inhale deeply through your nose until your lungs are full.
Exhale slowly through your mouth, letting every muscle soften.
Repeat three times.
Close your eyes and ask: “What can I do right now to make things better?”
You’ll know the answer.
Life is a long journey — but we can only ever travel one step, one breath, one present moment at a time.
