Don’t worry be happy.
Easier said than done right?
Buckling under the weight of our to do list.
Pushing back on the negative feedback loop in our heads.
Striving to do more and be more, and prove to ourselves one more time that we actually know what we’re doing.
Finding the joy and happiness in our day isn’t something we all forget.
It’s something that often seems impossible in the maelstrom of the working day.
Especially when our brains keep telling us that one false move could bring the sky down on our heads.
Because our brain wasn’t designed to make us happy.
It was designed to keep us safe and useful.
Always scanning for problems. Constantly on the look out for threats.
Never satisfied.
If we stay trapped in the mind’s ancient evolutionary programming, happiness will never be on the agenda.
Even if we achieve our goals.
Because here’s the kicker
Happiness isn’t the by-product of success. It’s the foundation on which success and fulfilment is built on.
Purpose + Meaning + Feeling valued = Joy
It’s that simple.
And we need leaders and cultures that can foster and communicate these things.
Because burnout doesn’t come from working too hard.
It comes from not knowing what we’re working for,
And having leaders who aren’t human enough to make us feel heard and worthy.
So get some joy back in your life.
Build it into your team. Because being happy isn’t just good for you. It’s good for your career too.
